LafargeHolcim to change management structure

LafargeHolcim has announced that its 30 largest country organisations will now report to its Executive Committee and that its global business functions will be merged under one leadership, to create a more agile management system. Therefore the Executive Committee at the company will be reduced to nine members, resulting in several new appointments. The appointments will become effective from 1 January 2018.

Marcel Cobuz will become Head Region Europe and a member of the Executive Committee. Mr Cobuz replaces Roland Köhler, who will be retiring.

North America
René Thibault will be Head Region North America and a member of the Executive Committee. Mr Thibault replaces Pascal Casanova, who has decided to leave the company.

Growth and Performance
The two business sectors, Performance & Cost and Growth & Innovation, will combine to become Growth & Performance. As a result, Urs Bleisch, currently Head of Performance & Cost, will be the Head of Growth & Performance. Gerard Kuperfarb, Head of Growth and Innovation, will be leaving the group.

As part of the restructuring, some countries are shifting business regions. Mexico will now be part of Region Latin America. Australia and New Zealand are going to join Region Asia. China and Trading will report directly to Jan Jenisch, CEO.

Geraldine Picaud has been appointed to the CFO position and will take over responsibilities on 3 January 2018.

The step is seen by Bernstein Research as an important first step in Jenisch's plan to introduce a new management model and simplify the organisation, paving the way for a significant reduction to Group
functions and savings on overheads. "But we were left wanting more detail on the financial implications of the streamlining of the organisation, particularly of the overheads, as well as more detail on the 'strengthened' P&L responsibilities and the incentives of the country management," the research house said in a statement on the reorganisation.
